Loading... Please wait...We recently read an article in Christensen's Hunting Illustrated magazine that talks about the pros and cons of big money-high dollar hunting. Good article by the way. One of the arguments that was pro high dollar hunting was that anyone who earns the money to pay for a high dollar big game hunt earned it. And it's part of the reward that comes with being successful. Also saying that people will always criticize those who are successful and are able to purchase these high dollar tags and hire a top guide.
The other side of the argument talked about how these types of hunts are destroying hunting for the common hunter. Some of the reasons were when people hire these top guides sometimes their ethics aren't the best. For example blocking roads so that other hunters can't use the road and can't make it to their hunting area. So of course this makes it so their clients have exclusive rights to that particular area. We've all heard this argument and example before. Some of the other reasons were, it's making people greedy and this forces tag prices and the fees associated with hunting to go up.
It's hard to say how this is affecting hunting, if it is at all. While both sides have good points. It's definitely something to look at and possibly keep in balance. Then again a lot of it comes down to opinion, because both sides will always have their opinions and arguments.
One thing is for sure and that's the fact that we need to preserve and protecting hunting in every way, shape and form. Hunting is a passion, a lifestyle and to some a religion. We can all agree though that we all want to keep hunting forever and we want our children to have the same experiences that we had and are having now.
So some common ground needs to found on subjects like this.
Be safe and good hunting my friends.
