Elk

I've been hunting elk for about 14 years now. And if there's one thing that I've learned about elk over the years and it's that they're tough to hunt. I don't think that I've ever had an easy elk hunt in my entire hunting life. Every elk that I've ever shot and killed has been earned with blood, sweat and tears. Now don't get me wrong, I love elk hunting. And part of the reason that I love hunting elk is because they are such a tough animal to hunt and it's so challenging. After I harvest an elk, I have the best feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction that can never be bought.

I have the utmost respect for elk. They make sure to never give you an easy hunt. Even after you kill them. Hauling them out is an experience in itself. If you've ever hauled one out on your back then you'll completely understand what I'm talking about.

Elk are one of the best big game animals to hunt in North America. They truly are majestic monarchs of the forest. True trophies in every sense of the word.

As I'm sitting here typing this I'm getting ready to head up to the Rockies to go elk hunting. I have two elk tags and plan on filling them both. There's nothing like having elk steaks and jerky in the freezer for the whole year. I can almost taste those backstraps now.

As Uncle Ted says, it's time to do the Backstrap Boogie.
