Why Hunting?

Why Hunting?

Over the years many people have asked me why I love hunting and some have even asked what is so great about hunting. I usually just chuckle to myself. Sometimes I answer them depending on who they are and their attitude at the time.

Usually my answer is that nothing brings me closer to nature or makes me feel more alive than hunting. From the first time I ever hunted I've been hooked. I can't imagine not hunting, not being outdoors, not being able to pursue big game, small game and or any kind of game for that matter.

Having a passion like hunting has always kept me grounded as a person. Has always given me something to look forward to every year. Has always given me the desire to accomplish certain goals in my life so that I could spend more time hunting. It's just become a way of life. It's who I am and what I'm made up of inside and out. I read an article not to long ago by Ted Nugent and he talked about living the hunting lifestyle. For example not being afraid to wear camo when you go out. Not being afraid to proudly say that you're a hunter. And one idea that I loved that he said was not being afraid to mount that deer or elk on your truck and cruise around town showing it off. Like sportsmen used to do back in the good ole days. Show your hunting spirit and be proud that you're a hunter. Nobody says it better than Ted Nugent.

I 100% agree with Uncle Ted. Sometimes we're afraid to admit to people that we're hunters because society has kind of put us on the defensive. We need to be proud that we're hunters and be proud to admit it to anyone. Hunters are the most down to earth nicest people you'll ever meet. I should know since I deal with them day in and day out.

I strut around town with my camo jacket, camo hat, camo seat covers and camo steering wheel and I love it.

So when a non-hunter asks you why do you hunt or why do you love hunting. Simply respond - "it's who I am and what I love, you have to be a hunter to understand."

Be safe and good hunting my friends.
